A Letter from an “Old Black Man”
Hi Mishelle.
I’m Ronald Johns. I was on the bus for that first Washington D.C meet-up. I was the old black man on bus.
I want to let you know a little about me so that I can join this fight and be productive.
I’m not real smart about ever thing that goes on. Maybe about 20 years ago I was an over the road truck driver. In Fla I ran into an older black man, along the time Jessie Jackson was running for President. He asked me if when ever I heard that because I’m black that I was suppose to be a democrat, and didn’t that set off alarm bells in my head.
Well one thing lead to another and the next thing I knew I was a conservative. I started doing research on my own about any issue that I had an intestest in.
I need to hang with you’all ever chance I get and become more educated on issue’s. Not having a lot of time because of the way I work and my hobby’s. I need to learn how to, and be prepared to talk with black people about what is going on with out getting my head bashed in.
Black people in my opion are looking for something that does not exsist. There is no black America. There is only America. The problems that are in the black world are because they are looking for Black America.
If we start in the homes and teaching our children about how far we’ve come and then teaching them the principles of living in America we will not see any reason for a black adjender I guess I spelled that right. Looking for Black America, White American, Japan American, Indian American create’s a separate America and we will never, never, ever in racisiam. If we can end this maddness goverment can be held in line.
Well this is my first statement to a group of people that I am totally in line with. So little by little , now that you know some of what is on my mind maybe someone will be able to help me to gain knowledge so that I can be a part of this movement, and help prepare me in my daily life, whenever I get the chance to know what I’m talking about so that I can help in some small way to start the healing process and help to take back control our country.
I could say a lot more, but I’m just getting started to be a part of this.
This is a big step for me, but so was going to D.C.
